Tuesday morning from 10:00-12:00 – a continuation of our previous grounds maintenance activities at the community Hall which we will still carry out on an as-needed basis.

Wednesday evening from 19:00-21:00 – our regular weekly get-together timed to suit non-retired members still in gainful employment, to discuss progress and up-coming projects

Friday morning from 10:00-12:00 – taking advantage of the absence of H&R office staff downstairs who tend to work Monday-Thursday, so allowing any noisier activity to take place.

Any change to these timings will be updated here and on our Blackburn and Kinellar Men’s Shed Facebook page. Members will also be advised via WhatsApp message.

What’s it all about?

Our Men’s Shed is a friendly, inclusive space where members can socialise, share skills, and work on projects that benefit both themselves and the wider community

Whether you are here for the workshop, a game of dominoes or chess, or simply a cup of tea or coffee and a chat, you’re part of the Shed from the moment you walk through the door.

Membership is free and you are welcome to join in as much or as little as you like. Everything we do is shaped by our members, and everyone has something to offer.

We keep the Shed a relaxed, inclusive space by avoiding anything that could cause unease to other members.

Our workshop and meeting space is situated on the first floor of H & R House and access is by stairs so accessibility could be difficult for some. We are investigating the possibility of having an appropriate stair lift installed. Please contact us at info@bkmshed.org for advice if you have mobility difficulties.

Get Involved in our Activities

Wherever your interests lie and whatever your ability, you’ll find something to do inside, or even outside, the Shed.

Indoors

  • The strong metal desks we inherited have been converted into solid work benches.
  • We’ve gradually been getting the workshop set up with donated or acquired machines fixed in place.
  • The workshop also now has a comfortable social and coffee corner for members to relax and catch up with fellow Shedders.
Three Shed members helped local volunteers plant Spring bulbs in community amenity areas.

Outdoors

  • Shed members last year took part in planting Spring flowering bulbs around the village.
  • We’ve also carried out several litter picking exercises in the community.
  • Some shedders helped clear paths of fallen branches in Burn Park after Storm Floris wrecked havoc in August 2025.

Join Us

Joining the Shed is easy and open to all men over 18 years of age, of all backgrounds and interests. Just come along to one of our Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday meetings to see what we’re up to.
